I've got my back-country permit and I'm ready to see some bears! None spotted yet...I'll keep you posted. I have spotted some rain clouds, but I'm already at a shelter, so I'm not too worried this afternoon.
This shelter comes equipped with a bear pole to hang your food bag...I suppose I should probably use it. Also, in stark contrast to the minimalist privy I took a picture of south of here, we've got a regular privy-condo setup here..pretty swanky!
Spending Sunday and Monday on the South Fork of the Shenandoah River near Compton. Will be trying to coax my wife into kayaking through the Compton rapids with me. Looks like you won't pass by there before Wed-Thurs. Sorry I'll miss you. Keep posting. I'm jealous. - Scott H.
