I hiked with Wiki from Virginia to Maine; he summited Katahdin the day before I did. Wiki is from Virginia and he's a recent James Madison grad. Like me, he wanted to hike the trail before he started looking for a grown-up job.
Wiki is, like most of the young people on the trail, a great guy to hike with: totally optimistic, cheerful in any weather, and as tenacious and resolute as a Marine Corps gunnery sergeant. And, like most young people on the trail, he loved to sleep in, which allowed me to get out early and keep up with him from Virginia to Maine!
As you can see, he's also a guy who enjoys an occasional beer or two, something else we had in common!
Rick, Congrats on making it all the way to the end (in Maine and not the end of the rope)! I guess you will have to carboload a lot more the next time you go hiking for 4+ months....
