Mount Greylock State Reservation

The highest peak in Massachusetts is the awesomely-named, should-be-a-movie-villain's-secret-lair Mount Greylock. Mount Greylock State Reservation, which lies almost on the state border with New York, was established in 1898, making it the oldest in Massachusetts and probably one of the oldest in the nation as well.

More than 90 miles of the AT are in Massachusetts. By the time a north-bound thru-hiker reaches the state, he or she has hiked more than 1500 miles..!
