Some parts of the AT are pretty easy going, sometimes you have to contend with rocks, mud and running water, and sometimes things just look...iffy!
It's hard to predict what each day will be like; some days the miles breeze past, some days each step seems like a struggle. I can pretty much count on doing 18-20 miles each day, but I can't predict how long the day will be...or how much it will hurt!
The wooden ladder-looking thing is a fence stile, so you can climb over barbed wire to cross pastures and private land. This one was pretty stable, but most of them bend, sag, twist, rock and wobble...and they're more slippery than goose poop when they're wet!
