Lucy was a stray who started following her new adoptive owner Firehands down in North Carolina. It's a big decision to take a dog on the Trail, to adopt one on the Trail is a HUGE decision.
After making sure nobody was looking for her, Firehands took her to the vet and got her set up to hike. She's worked up to carrying a saddle-bag with about 5 pounds in it; some of her food and other stuff she needs.
It might have been a huge decision, but Lucy made it easy: she's a real sweetheart who loves attention, and she is completely relaxed in camp...a perfect trail companion.
